When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.
Since Wesley and I started Salad Ventures almost 2 years ago, we were determined to go all-in to join the Work 3.0 revolution. Despite all the advice we got from friends and family around us, we spotted an opportunity to contribute to the revolution of "Work".
We started with Gaming (P2E), and over the last 19 months, realised that the potential for earning a living on the blockchain is starting to become a reality.
Unemployment is a huge problem around the world. Not because of its existence, but because it is imbalanced. Just look at this chart from Statistica:
Imagine this.
Referring to the same chart comparing South Africa and say, Australia.
You're a business in Australia (unemployment rate 5.1%), looking to hire a graphic designer. You interview some people locally and found a few fresh graduates who are asking for a AUD$5k monthly salary. You then happen to come across an applicant who says he's from South Africa (unemployment rate 34.2%). He sends you his portfolio and says he's willing to work for AUD$1k a month.
What do you do?
Like me, you would probably ignore the African and try to negotiate a lower salary for the local. Simply because paying 20% of the "market" is probably too good to be true and you cannot verify if the South African guy is who he says he is.
That's why SA has an unemployment rate of 34.2% and Australia's 5.1%.
We believe blockchain technology can equalise the unemployment rate globally.
Take the example of Blockchain games in 2021. No matter if you are living in Australia or South Africa, your earnings for spending the same amount of time, same skillset, same team, in a game like Axie Infinity, will be exactly the same. The blockchain does not discriminate.
And that is what Salad is here to contribute to.
With Play-To-Earn paving the way with a model of new earning opportunities, my team and I cannot be more excited to contribute to the overall success of this new Work 3.0 model.
We have been blessed with the support of the world's best VCs and Angels, and while the markets have not been forgiving, our team has been actively working towards our milestones (https://read.salad.ventures).
Wesley and I have decided to pay it forward by helping other projects in the space succeed, by giving up more of our personal (family) time to advise and mentor.
To that end, I'm so pleased to share 2 updates from the Salad Ventures blog:
Wes and I are grateful for the opportunity to give back, while we continue to build the Salad ecosystem for the world's Workforce. We serve the unemployed and the ones who want to be re-employed.
And we believe that this is the most sustainable, practical, and life-changing use-case for the Blockchain.
